To celebrate the 160th anniversary of the Bonne-Mère distillery in Guadeloupe, DBM unveils an exceptional creation: the DBM 1863 Traditional Aged Rum. This decanter, screen-printed with 24-carat gold, a true liquid elixir, embodies 160 years of history through an extraordinary blend of the distillery’s most prestigious vintages.
Bottled at 43%, each limited-edition handcrafted piece embodies the legacy of centuries-old expertise from one of Guadeloupe’s oldest rum distilleries. Founded at the end of the 18th century in the Nord Basse-Terre region, Habitation Bonne-Mère became a distillery in 1863.
At the heart of this decanter, the result of a collaboration between Marc Sassier, oenologist, and the DBM teams, four exceptional and rarely offered rums aged 16 to 23 years meet, offering a very complex, mellow, and intertwined aromatic palette, stemming from a long process between the raw material and oak, a true harmony of woody and fruity flavors. This masterpiece is an invitation to a truly rare sensory journey.
Good intensity, smooth, with discreet alcohol.
A generous nose with tightly interwoven aromas of flambéed banana, rock candy sugar, nutmeg, as well as oaky wood, almond, and eaux-de-vie fruits such as pear.
Fairly full-bodied, with subtle, well-integrated oak that adds length, and a hint of acidity on the finish that brings freshness.
The slightly tannic notes from the nose come through, with roasted notes (mocha) and more pronounced macerated fruits (prune, almond).
Brown with mahogany highlights.
Clear and bright.
“Four exceptional and rarely offered rums, aged 16 to 23 years, come together to offer a very complex, mellow, and intertwined aromatic palette, resulting from a long process between the raw material and oak, all while maintaining a certain softness and freshness.”
